There’s nothing like a hearty, delicious breakfast to start your day—and there are several restaurants throughout the Buckeye State that understand this. Whether a signature omelet, a heaping stack of pancakes or eggs Benedict is your breakfast food of choice, Ohio has just the breakfast joint for you. The following are just 12 of what we consider to be the best places in Ohio that serve up exceptional breakfast food, (listed in no particular order.)
For breakfast and brunch with a twist, check out Jack Flaps urban breakfast shop in Ohio City. Jack Flaps is located at 3900 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113. (Pictured is the Happy Jack waffle, featuring local five-star brand all-beef hotdog, garlicky greens and everything bagel cream cheese.)
In addition to their unbelievably delicious homemade pies, this third-generation family diner has been serving up what is arguably the Toledo area's best breakfast since 1948. Pictured are fresh blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Schmucker's is located at 2103 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615.
Where everything is homemade and the hometown diner atmosphere makes a breakfast here that much more heartier; Busy Bee Restaurant is located at 226 Gilman Ave., Marietta, OH 45750.
This breakfast, brunch and burger restaurant has been serving the "Best Breakfast Around Since 1975." Wally Waffle is located at 845 W Market St., Akron, OH 44303.
Within Columbus' charming, historic German Village, you'll find some of central Ohio's best breakfast food. This local old school diner prides itself in its fluffy hotcakes, thick cut bacon, cheesy hash-browns and cinnamon french toast. German Village Coffee Shop is located at 193 Thurman Ave., Columbus, OH 43206.
This local favorite in downtown Chillicothe serves up signature omelets named after the town's streets. (I personally recommend the Main Street omelet or the french toast, with a side of their unbelievably delicious breakfast potatoes.) Grinder's is located at 85 N Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
If the bright colors on the outside don't warm your heart, the picture perfect breakfast food in the inside will. This 75-year-old local landmark is famous for its "huge fluffy omelettes and wispy thin pancakes." Sugar n' Spice is located at 4381 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
Located in the historic railroad station at the foot of Market Street, this local favorite is famous for its beloved cinnamon rolls. Dooleys is located at 231 Market St., Zanesville, OH 43701.
With two locations in Lima, this local favorite serves exceptionally delicious eggs Benedict, thick cut bacon and speciality pancakes. (The LuLu Special is highly recommended here.) LuLu's Diner West
is located at 2114 Spencerville Rd., and
LuLu's Diner East is located at 1321 Bellfontaine Ave.
The nationally renowned chain restaurant humbly began "down on the farm" in Gallia County more than 50 years ago. Today, the chain and its beloved sausage gravy is one of America's favorite breakfast options.
