I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
There’s something about airplanes that capture the imagination in a way no other mode of transportation can. The gravity-defying feat of flight is, when you really think about it, nothing short of miraculous. It’s become such an ingrained part of our everyday lives that it’s impossible to imagine a world without airplanes — and Ohio certainly played a key part in aviation history. Dayton, in fact, is hailed as the birthplace of aviation, as Wilbur and Orville Wright were born in this mid-sized town. As such, the city has lots of flight-themed attractions, from the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force to the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park… there’s even an entire Dayton Aviation Trail. This July, however, there’s an event in Dayton that moves airplanes out of the museums and into the skies. It’s the Dayton Air Show and promises to be a weekend of high-flying, “Top Gun” fueled fun in Ohio.
Anyone into aviation will tell you there's nothing quite like the experience of an air show. These events are dramatic, cinematic, awe-inspiring, and just plain awesome.
Because really, when it comes down to it, what's more magical and marvelous than flight? The answer: synchronized, acrobatic, faster-than-the-speed-of-light flight -- the kind of spectacle you'll get to experience at the Dayton Air Show.
Featured "performers" at the air show include the S Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet West Coast Rhino Demo Team, U.S. Army Golden Knights, and, of course, America’s Ambassadors in Blue: the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
The event also boasts jaw-dropping action *on* the ground, with Firewalkers International Pyro and Hot Streak Jet Truck (pictured) wowing audiences with their fiery feats and spectacular stunts.
Need a break from all the action (and head craning)? Make sure to grab a ticket to the Pavilion Area, which boasts umbrella-covered tables and free shuttle access. Looking for something a bit more luxurious? Treat yourself to a ticket for the Blue Sky Chalet, which includes lunch, beverages, and access to air conditioning.
Have you attended this air show in Dayton, Ohio, before? There’s really nothing quite as thrilling as watching aircraft soar in synchrony across the skies of the Buckeye State! Visit the Dayton Air Show website to learn more about this high-flying festival in Ohio.
