Fall is the most magical time of the year in the Buckeye State.
When you’re not visiting your local pumpkin patch or exploring a haunted house, it can be just as satisfying to take a drive for the fun of it. October’s fall foliage in Ohio is downright majestic, and the Hocking Hills Scenic Byway is the perfect way to take it all in. With a total drive time of around 1 hour and 20 minutes, this gorgeous drive can easily last 2 hours (or more), depending on how often you choose to stop and explore or take a in a view. Check it out:
This 26.4-mile byway along State Route 374 winds its way through the scenic Hocking Hills and Hocking Hills State Forest.

Please note: There is now an additional 12.5-mile loop along the Hocking Hills Scenic Byway. The Big Pine Scenic Loop Addition beings at mile 18.8.
During the fall time, the Hocking Hills region in southeast Ohio comes alive with vibrant oranges, reds and yellows.
The Hocking Hills Scenic Byway is the perfect way to tour the region year-round as it passes through the state park and several nature preservers. The Old Man's Cave Visitor's Center at mile 21.4 is the perfect place to stop for a restroom break.

You'll also find a small museum here where you can learn about the geology and history of the area.

If you don't mind a fairly strenuous hike, the Rim Trail at Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve is the best way to stop and take in some fall foliage outside of the car.
