Photographs and personal experiences from volunteers setting up this haunted attraction in its early days in the 1980s suggest that this forest truly is haunted; it's not merely a theatrical attraction.

While clearing the area, the Pataskala Lions Club stumbled upon a mysterious, single grave marker in the ground with the name "Murdock" crudely engraved on it. The grave marker was found near some building remains that resembled a small house.
