Oh, how we love the North Coast. Home to lush foliage, rugged scenery, hidden beaches, and endless natural beauty, it’s easy to be blown away by what it has to offer. Northern California’s coastline is home to more hiking trails than we can count, but there’s one, in particular, you should check out for an easy, family-friendly adventure. The Yurok Loop Trail is home to some of the region’s most impressive scenery and it is an absolute treat to explore.
We swear, sometimes the beauty of the Northern California Coast is almost too good to be true. Step onto this easy loop trail along the coast and you'll probably feel like you've entered another world...
Located halfway between Crescent City and Klamath, the Yurok Loop Trail is easily accessible from Highway 101. From the highway, take the turnoff to Lagoon Creek and follow the road to the day-use area. At the west end of the day-use area is where you'll find the trailhead.
The Yurok Loop Trail is short and sweet at just a mere mile long. Although brief, this hike definitely packs a punch by treating hikers to unbelievable views of the coast and the scenery that surrounds it.
After starting the trail from the Lagoon Creek Picnic Area, you'll soon enter a wooded area that's rich with lush ferns and thick groves of trees. There are a few forks in the trail but also plenty of signs to keep you on track.
After trekking through coastal woods for some time, the trail breaks out into a more open area. From here, you'll enjoy a sweeping viewpoint of the ocean and the delightfully hidden False Klamath Cove.
This is the type of natural beauty that we couldn't be more grateful of. Beach wildflowers, coastal forests of Douglas fir and Sitka spruce, and pristine habitats all combine in one magical setting.
The views definitely aren't half bad for a short trail located right off the highway. In fact, we'd go as far as to say that this is the type of hike that's worth going out of your way for.
