This 3.4-mile loop is located in the Mount Burdell Preserve. It’s called Michako Trail, San Carlos Fire Road, and Middle Burdell Fire Loop.
The trail has a long name because it is made up of several roads and trails all combined. But don’t worry, despite the long name and multiple trails, this trail is easy to navigate.
At 1,627 acres, this nature preserve is the largest in Marin County.
On a nice day, we recommend packing a picnic lunch and stopping at the midway point to enjoy the wildflowers and the views. But, be sure to stay on the roads and trails.
Be sure to not block streets, gates, or driveways of residents. There is a sign at the entrance of the preserve which details the layout of the area. There are other hiking trails within the preserve, ranging from 1 mile to nearly 8 miles.
After hiking the Michako Trail, San Carlos Fire Road, and Middle Burdell Fire Loop trail, consider visiting this former coastal Miwok village and learn about how the Miwoks lived.
We’re in awe of the amazing blooms everywhere this spring– and there are so many places to experience this lovely seasonal display. Of all the places to see wildflowers in bloom, we like this hike because it’s not only beautiful but the coastal breezes make the weather very pleasant.
