Most amazing destinations in Northern California require a little effort to find them, and this natural pool is no different. This hidden gem is known as Cleo's Bath and you'll find it tucked away in the Stanislaus National Forest.
Cleo's Bath can be reached via a six mile hike that starts at the Pinecrest Lake Marina. Here you'll set off on the Pinecrest Lake Trailhead, following the trail past a lake and a dam.
Continue on and you'll eventually cross a footbridge that stretches over the Stanislaus River. Soon after, you'll find the trail that leads you directly to Cleo's Bath. The trail mostly follows the river. If you get confused at all about the trail, just remember to follow the spray-painted arrows.
You'll know you've found the spot when you see a giant granite slab. From here, you'll be required to climb up on the rocks so come prepared with some decent shoes and be sure to be careful. Afterward, you'll spot the quaint yet beautiful waterfall that forms the pool.
Cleo's Bath is like a little oasis in the forest. The entire pool is completely enclosed by granite rocks, and the waterfall feeds directly into the pool. It's definitely a magical sight! Oh, and the water is absolute perfection.
Since the water comes from snow melt, the pool is known for its incredibly refreshing temperature. The chilly water is simply bliss on those hot summer days. With nothing but the sounds of wildlife and the rushing cascade of water from the falls, Cleo's Bath is the perfect natural escape.
Finding Cleo's Bath can certainly be a challenge, but you'll find that it's so worth it in the end for its crisp cold water and jaw-dropping scenery. Summer isn't over yet so be sure to add this adventure to your to-do list!
