It doesn’t matter how old you are, everybody deserves to indulge in the playful escape that video games have to offer. If you’re the type of person who remembers with fondness the days when game arcades were the place to be, then you’ll want to plan a visit to this vintage gem as soon as possible. This game arcade will have you feeling like you’ve been transported back to the 80s. Boasting over 400 vintage games that are waiting to be played, this arcade is fun for the entire family. Forget Disneyland—this is the happiest place on earth.
Today, games are easier to access than ever. All you have to do is reach into your pocket for your phone and you'll have access to hundreds, even thousands, of them. But back in the day, kids had to visit an arcade like this one to get their fill.
Times have definitely changed, but there's still a place for these types of vintage arcades. Located in Alameda, High Scores Arcade represents a nostalgic time in gaming culture and it's a must-visit, no matter how old or young you are.
High Scores Arcade is the passion project of a husband and wife team who have been building their collection of classic arcade games for years. Originally opened in new Jersey, they relocated to Alameda in 2013. After experiencing some success, a second location opened in Hayward in 2016.
The arcade focuses solely on classic games from the 1980s, featuring iconic gems liek Tron, Pac-Man, Star Wars, Donkey Kong, and so much more. You'll even see some beloved titles from the 1990s like Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, and Revolution X.
Listing all of the games that this arcade has to offer would take quite a bit of time. After all, this place is home to over 400 playable classic games. We think it's safe to say that there's something for everyone at this eclectic game arcade.
High Scores is so much more than a place to play games and kill some time. This place will take you back to the time when gaming was a social experience, not a solitary one. People would huddle around a game and cheer the player on, putting a quarter on the cabinet to claim "Next".
Whether you're looking to relive your glory days as an arcade champion or you're completely new to gaming, High Scores is an excellent place to visit and bask in some sweet nostalgia.
High Scores can be found at 1414 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501.
