Hiding out near the quaint Victorian village of Ferndale is Centerville Beach County Park. You can find it at Centerville Rd, Ferndale, CA 95536.
The park gives visitors access to an incredible sandy beach that seems to go on for miles (nine miles, to be exact). Beachcombers will be in absolute heaven as they meander along the beach surrounded by sandstone cliffs and tons of wildlife.
What makes this beach so unique from others is the fact that it's neatly nestled right between the ocean and Humboldt County's dairy countryside. You couldn't ask for a more picturesque location to spend the day.
You'll come across a variety of landscapes while exploring the beach. Delightful farmland, winding sloughs, and marshy wetlands can all be found behind the actual beach. It makes for a great place to just stroll and let the time pass you by.
You'll come across a large white cross as you continue to explore the bluffs. The cross is actually a California Historical Landmark and commemorates the 38 people who died in a shipwreck that occurred in this area in 1860.
There's something incredible about Northern California beaches. The water is cold and they may not contain the tropical beauty that can be found in the southern region of our state, but there's spectacular beauty to be found along the Northern coast that is unlike anything you've experienced before.
