Located in Marin County, Toluma Farms and Tomales Farmstead Creamery is a dairy, organic farm, and creamery all-in-one. On top of producing amazing cheese products, the farm is committed to educating kids and adults alike about where their food comes from.
Tomales Farmstead Creamery started producing artisanal goat and sheep cheeses in 2013 and they've been going strong ever since. The farm is home to over 100 East Friesian sheep and 200 goats, each of which they can identify by name!
Whether you're a fan of cheese or a fan of adorable animals, a visit to Toluma Farms is bound to inspire you. They offer guided tours of the entire farm on the first Sunday of every month, and it's well worth looking into!
The tours take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and everybody is welcome. During the tour, visitors will learn about the history of how this farm and creamery came to be in addition to visiting with the animals in the barn and/or pastures.
You'll also get to see the farm's workings in action as they lead you to the milking parlor and the creamery. You'll even get a sneak peek at what goes into the cheese-making process. Tours are $30 for adults and $20 for children.
Of course, every tour ends with a cheese tasting so you can enjoy the fruits of the farm's labor. If you can't make it to the monthly group tours, you can always book a private tour at a time that's convenient for you.
