There are so many things to brag about if you live here in Northern California. The sights, the food, the attractions, the list could go on and on. Even if you consider yourself a humble person, it’s okay to brag from time to time. Check out these eight things you can only boast about if you’re from Northern California.
1. First of all, we feed the nation.
California is the largest producer of food in the United States and you can bet a large portion of that comes from NorCal. Almonds, figs, strawberries, pistachios, onions, olives, you name it and we probably produce it. The country can thank us later.
2. Oh, and we're the 4th largest producer of wine in the world.
This one is no secret, but it's always worth mentioning. Without our delightful wine country, the wine world would just not be the same. After all, we account for 90% of the country's wine industry.
3. Are you wearing Levi's right now? That's because of Northern California.
That's right. The mega-jean company started in San Francisco. Who knows what we would be wearing for pants if it weren't for Levi Strauss!
4. We're one of the best places to raise a family.
Many people are under the assumption that California is just too expensive of a place to raise a family. While that is definitely true in some areas, it's not true for all. In fact, there are several great cities throughout Northern California that are perfect places to live for families. Just check out this list we compiled of the

5. We're home to the most livable place in the country.

6. We're not just home to some of the oldest trees, but the tallest trees as well. In fact, we're home to the tallest tree in the world.
The world's tallest tree, named Hyperion, is hiding out in Redwood National and State Parks. Although the location is kept secret, it's easy to believe Northern California contains the tallest tree in the world. I mean, have you seen our redwoods?
7. A Northern California town contains the largest, deepest, and richest gold mine
Empire Mine is located in the town of Grass Valley, and it's considered one of the most important mines of the Gold Rush Era. It produced 5.8 million ounces of gold during its time and geologists believe we only mined roughly 20% of it. That's a lot of moolah!
8. Not to mention, Northern California is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
It's hard to argue with this one. Our diverse landscapes are unlike anything else in the world. The oceans, valleys, mountains, forests, etc. are what make this such an amazing place to live.
