Hiding out in Yuba County, Marysville is a quintessentially historic town that’s full of charm. Located on the ancestral lands of the Maidu and incorporated in 1843, the town was considered the epicenter of Northern California’s most productive gold mining region. Today, the town is full of landmarks that harken back to the area’s mining days, like the iconic Silver Dollar Saloon. Originally opened in the mid-1800s, this place is still going strong. In fact, it’s considered the place to go when you’re craving a mean steak dinner, complete with all of the fixings you could desire.
Considered one of the oldest historic landmarks in Marysville, the Silver Dollar Saloon is an icon from Northern California's transformative gold mining era. It also happens to be THE place to go when you're craving a hearty steak dinner!
You can find the historic saloon located right on the corner of 1st and D Streets. Back in the day, Marysville was as far up the Yuba River as San Francisco steamers could travel, so the bar was often the first stop many prospectors made when traveling to the various mining operations in the area.
Built sometime in the mid-1800s, the saloon itself seems to be frozen in time. Inside, visitors can dine or sip on a beverage in an atmosphere that looks to be straight out of the Old West. Everything from the decor to the old-fashioned bar back exudes authenticity from the Gold Rush era.
On top of its amazing historic background, the Silver Dollar still operates as a bar and restaurant to this day. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
On the menu is a variety of wholesome eats that could fill up even the hungriest gold miner! The sandwiches and burgers can't be beat. The Silver Dollar Burger is a classic, and other popular options include the Reuben Sandwich, Hot Pastrami Sandwich, and the Famous Steak Sandwich.
For dinner, guests can choose from a variety of hand-cut steaks that have been seasoned and chargrilled to perfection. From tender baby back ribs to massive 12-ounce slabs of rib eye, hungry meat-eaters will be more than satisfied with the saloon's offerings.
From the environment to the hearty cuisine, there's definitely a lot to love about this historic landmark in Marysville. The Silver Dollar Saloon has been around for well over a century, and we can only hope it sticks around for another! See the full menu on the Silver Dollar's website here .
