The next time you feel like chasing waterfalls, consider visiting this lesser-known cascade known as Webber Falls. This secret waterfall is a true hidden gem, which is surprising considering this waterfall’s stunning beauty. Seek out this underrated falls and enjoy a little slice of NorCal that few know about.
Located around 60 miles north of Sacramento, the quaint town of Nevada City is a gateway to all sorts of beautiful natural attractions. The little-known Webber Falls is one of them, and it's so worth seeking out.
This beautiful cascade is the result of the Little Truckee River plummeting into a canyon just a few miles east of Webber Lake. The river drops for approximately 75-feet, creating two main plunges that will take your breath away when viewed in its entirety.
Although the lower falls are around 50-feet and the upper falls just half of that, the upper falls are probably the most popular spot for viewing Webber Falls. This may be because its easier to access, and it also makes for a great spot to chill and cool off on a hot summer day.
To get to the falls, you'll take Highway 89 north from Truckee. After passing Kyburz, turn onto County Road 7/Jackson Meadows Rd. Continue towards Jackson Meadows for approximately 7 miles before turning right onto a dirt road. This is the closest entrance point to Webber Falls.
After parking in the small pullout area, you'll head down to the falls by walking down the dirt road and then making a left at another dirt road that will take you south towards the waterfall.
At this point, you should be able to hear the roaring of Webber Falls in the distance. As the gorgeous falls come into view, you'll find yourself completely entranced by its beauty. Just be careful, as the closer you get to the canyon rim, the more slippery and dangerous the terrain can be come.
