There's never a bad time to start planning your next getaway, and you might find yourself doing it sooner than later when you see what Nick's Cove & Cottages is all about. This lovely seaside resort is located near Marshall and it's a must-visit.
Marshall is a lovely community of just 400 residents. The town is delightfully quiet and it's easy to lose track of time while wandering around and soaking it all in. One of the town's best features is Nick's Cove, a cluster of 1930s-era cottages that make for the perfect weekend escape.
Nick's Cove is actually one of the last remaining historic settlements that catered to the early tourist industry on Tomales Bay. With the construction of a modern highway in 1930 and the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937, a flood of tourists made their way to the area. It wasn't long before Marin County was a hot spot of adventure and tourism.
Nick Kojich was the original owner of Nick's Cove and where the resort gets its name. Coming from Yugoslavian tradition, he had several houses built atop wooden pilings near the beach. He then opened a seafood restaurant nearby that sold shrimp and crab cocktails to passing tourists.
Out of the handful of cottages, each one boasts a unique character which combines elegance with comfort. Boasting beautiful cabin-esque decor, the cottages are simply picturesque and you'll find yourself wishing you could stay in them forever.
On a chilly night, relaxing in front of the woodburning stove is a must. And let's not forget the view. Since the cottages are literally right on the shore, the scenery is gorgeous and will make you feel like you've been transported to some sort of oasis.
A lot of years have passed since Nick's Cove first began welcoming visitors with open arms, but few things have changed. The cottages are still just as charming, the restaurant is still serving crab, and the views are as lovely as ever.
