Flowing from high in the Coast Range and into the Pacific Ocean, the 40-mile-long Gualala River is one of the most stunning waterways in Northern California. Surrounded by the incredible scenery of Sonoma County, this river is one that’s definitely worth seeking out when you’re in the mood for a tranquil adventure. A company called Adventure Rents makes it easier than ever to enjoy this majestic body of water. Offering a variety of boat rentals and decades-worth of experience traversing the river, they’ll show you everything the amazing Gualala River has to offer.
For 25 years, Adventure Rents has been offering amazing experiences on the Gualala River for locals and travelers alike. Based right out of the town of Gualala, they make it possible to experience a side of this river that few truly get to see.
Whether you're looking to explore the Gualala River solo or with a large group, Adventure Rents has an experience for you. They have a boatload (har-har-har) of boats available that you can rent for the day, including 16-foot canoes and both single and tandem kayaks.
There are three different tours that paddlers can choose from: the 2-Hour Outing, the 4-Hour Paddle, or the All-Day Excursion. Whether you're in the mood for a quick dip in the river or an adventure that takes the entire day, Adventure Rents will do what it takes to give you an experience to remember.
Of course, it's hard to be dissatisfied while surrounded by the river's breathtaking scenery. Flanked by old-growth redwood trees, you'll find yourself completely immersed in the area's lush natural beauty. Be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife!
The river contains the most serene and mellow waters. Although some sections are known to be quite cold, other areas are very comfortable to swim in on a summer day. Take some time to explore the scenic beaches that line the river where you can sit and take it all in.
Peak season at Adventure Rents is typically mid-June through Labor Day. Reservations are strongly encouraged, but you can also drop-in at their location at the Mill Bend launch beach any day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Their adventures range from $50 to $70 per person and include boat rental, return shuttle, basic training and safety, and life jacket.
