It’s hard to imagine a restaurant staying in business for over 150 years, but that’s exactly what this little-known eatery has done. The oldest roadhouse in Northern California has been around for a long, long time. Established just a few years after the beginning of the state’s famous Gold Rush, this place is a true Northern California institution. Travel back in time to a different era and plan a dinner at this historic restaurant. After just one bite, you’ll understand why this place has stuck around.
It's not very often you get the opportunity to dine at a restaurant that's been around since the 19th century. Stormy's Spirits and Supper has been around since 1854—to be exact—making it the oldest roadhouse in the state.
Located in Petaluma, the roadhouse has seen a variety of owners over the years. The Cramer family has owned it the longest since they took over in 1961. At the time, it was just a bar that served simple sandwiches and snacks.
It's since grown into one of the best places to grab a steak in Northern California. The roadhouse began serving up their iconic house-aged steaks and prime rib in the early 1970s and the tradition has continued to this day!
Their Prime Rib is well-loved among locals for a reason. Offered in a 16-ounce and 22-ounce cut, it comes with mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables, and French bread. It's exactly the type of hearty meal you'd expect to get at a roadhouse, and it's simply delicious.
Other popular dishes include "The New York of New Yorks" strip, the "King of Steaks" Bone-In Ribeye, and the Colossal Prawns. Made to-order and served piping hot, it's the type of comfort food that instantly makes you feel right at home.
A visit to Stormy's simply isn't complete without trying a bowl of their famous Cramer's Clam Chowder. In fact, their chowder is served with every meal so you can be sure to get a taste of it!
Experience a piece of living Northern California history when you stop by Stormy's for a delicious and satisfying meal. Boasting a rustic atmosphere and portions fit for a cowboy, this authentic roadhouse is well-worth a visit.
Stormy's Spirits and Supper is open Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Address: 6650 Bloomfield Rd, Petaluma, CA 94952
