In recent years, Sacramento’s dining scene has exploded with the addition of all sorts of new trendy eateries. We definitely love the diversity of options these new eateries have brought us, but sometimes it feels good to rely on old classics. Located in West Sacramento is an old-school Italian restaurant that’s been feeding the community since 1935. In addition to serving up hot and wholesome Italian cuisine, Club Pheasant is a historic icon that brings an authentic old-school experience that’s just not very common anymore.
When it opened more than 85 years ago, it was known as the Hideaway Cafe. Today, Club Pheasant is still widely loved for its nostalgic atmosphere and delicious Italian food, making it a must for any Sacramento foodie.
The restaurant may have opened back in 1935, but the original building dates back to 1912. Although the restaurant has certainly gotten bigger over the years, most of the dining rooms, bar, and kitchen are all part of that original building.
Founded by Luisa and George Palamidessi, Club Pheasant prides itself on using original recipes to this very day. The homemade ravioli is an especially popular item. Over 10,000 of these delicious little pockets are made weekly!
You can't go wrong with the fried ravioli, either. Other widely loved dishes include the famous Garlic Steak Sandwich, Minestrone Soup, Roast Prime Rib, and of course, Spaghetti.
Currently managed by fourth-generation Palamidessis, it's all about family at Club Pheasant and it definitely shows. Offering a wide array of dishes from Italian favorites to sandwiches, steak, chicken, and seafood, there's something for everyone to enjoy on the delicious menu.
Banquet facilities are also available to rent at this longstanding restaurant. Whether you're looking for a spot for a large group outing, a romantic date night, or simply a fun evening with family, this old-school Italian joint is always a solid choice.
Serving the community for the better part of a century, Club Pheasant is definitely doing something right. Stop by yourself and experience a piece of West Sacramento history. Learn more about the restaurant and take a look at their menu when you visit their website.
