Northern California is a camping enthusiast’s paradise. Our state is home to a plethora of stunning campgrounds that some people only dream of staying at. The Steep Ravine Environmental Campground is one of those places. Boasting some of the most jaw-dropping views of the ocean, these rustic little cabins make for the dreamiest getaway. The oceanside cabins are bare-bones but you’ll find yourself wishing you could stay here permanently. It’s that good.
Hiding out near Stinson Beach is one of the most glorious campgrounds in Northern California. The Steep Ravine Environmental Campground contains nine rustic cabins along with a cluster of tent campsites, all of which boast some of the most breathtaking ocean views you've ever witnessed.
Upon arriving, you'll immediately realize that this place is special. The views are absolutely extraordinary but the area also feels delightfully remote. San Francisco is located just to the south but the entire park is shrouded with peace and quiet. There's nothing but the noise of the waves to be heard.
The remoteness is due to the fact that access to the campground is given only to those who are camping. It's pure bliss. Enjoy the view of the ocean from your cabin's patio and soak up the tranquility.
The cabins are amazingly spare, containing just a table, counter area, a handful of sleeping platforms, and a small closet. Campers are expected to bring sleeping bags, food, camping stove, lanterns, and anything else they'll need during their stay.
Despite their barren quality, the cabins are perfectly comfortable. They can sleep up to five people. There is no running water or electricity but there are water spigots and bathrooms (minus showers) located just a short walk away.
No matter how long you decide to stay, it won't feel like nearly enough time. You could spend days on end exploring the hiking trails which take you all along the majestic coastline.
The cabins are understandably popular so it's recommended that you book your stay far in advance. Oh, and the best part? It's affordable. A night in one of these beautiful structures costs just $100—not bad considering the million dollar views.
What do you think? Would you stay in these oceanside cabins? The location looks almost too beautiful to be real. Be sure to check out our list of the 12 Best Northern California Campgrounds where you can sleep on the beach!
