As one of Northern California’s greatest icons, Mt. Shasta manages to capture our attention no matter the season. However, nothing compares to this majestic mountain in the wintertime! A great place to experience Mt. Shasta’s winter beauty is this community-supported Nordic center. Boasting groomed trails that lead you through breathtaking scenery, this is the picture-perfect place to spend a winter day.
Located on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Shasta is a Nordic Center where you immerse yourself in some of Northern California's most breathtaking winter beauty.
Formed back in 2006, the goal of the Nordic Center is to make a space for skiers and snowshoers of all skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. By providing well-groomed trails and marked backcountry trails, the center provides access to one of NorCal's dreamiest winter landscapes.
The off-grid trail system offers over 14-miles of trails for skate and classic cross country skiing. Whether you're a seasoned professional or simply trying something new, everybody is welcome at the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center.
Located on the Ski Park Highway, the Nordic Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can purchase a trail pass for the day or for the entire season, and if you need gear, rental equipment packages are also available.
The center also provides certain services on top of classic and skate ski rentals. This includes lessons for both beginner and intermediate lessons, and even a cozy warming hut where you can cozy up with a hot drink and snacks after your adventure.
Are you more of a snowshoer? You'll love the 1.5-mile trail specifically for snowshoeing. Surrounded by snowcapped pine trees and mountains for as far as the eye can see, you simply couldn't ask for a more scenic setting.
Hit the slopes of Mt. Shasta and get closer than ever to the brilliant winter scenery. The Mt. Shasta Nordic Center is a hub of adventure that everyone can enjoy! Learn more by visiting the center's website.
