In today’s modern world, sometimes people mistake “old school” for out of touch or style. And given all available to us with modern technology, if an entity doesn’t have a website, it’s often regarded as a dinosaur. But that’s not always the case, especially with an old-fashioned restaurant that has stood the test of time. Come along as we check out a humble establishment in small town Northern California that still brings in the crowds – and without a website.
Vladimir's Czechoslovakian Restaurant is located at 12785 Sir Francis Drake Blvd in the small town of Inverness.
The restaurant is one of only a handful of businesses situated along this part of the Point Reyes National Seashore in western Marin County, about an hour’s drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Once inside, you’ll feel immediately ensconced in an authentic European environment.
The dark woods, colorful tablecloths, detailed décor, memorabilia, photos, and more speak to a place that has put a lot of thought and effort into maintaining its family roots and sharing them with its patrons – both regulars and new arrivals.

The plates of food here are sumptuous, to say the least.
The menu encompasses an array of traditional Czechoslovakian dishes like this tastebud enticing chicken paprikash served with red cabbage, potato salad, and a rich and savory gravy.
You’ll also find plenty of traditional meat and potato options, goulash, and fresh fare readily available in the area like flaky fish and chips and succulent oysters.
Open for lunch and dinner, the old-fashioned restaurant meals here are served with their special rye bread – perfect for sopping up all of that delicious gravy!
Pair your meal here with one of a couple of beers on tap or opt for a bottled option including the Praga Dark and Amber Lagers, a Rebel Amber Lager, or a hard cider.
And don’t forget dessert! As you might imagine, the strudel is very popular.
Consider pairing it with one of their hot drinks, like the Kava Vladimir, a coffee drink made with slivovitz — a delicious plum-flavored spirit produced in Eastern, Southern, and Central Europe — then topped with whipped cream.
Overall, patrons say they appreciate the focus on traditional old-world values, the great service, homey feel, and authentic recipes that have been carried down through the generations. Moreover, on certain nights you can also enjoy live music.
