Located in Crescent City, Schmidt's House of Jambalaya is serving up the vibrant flavors of New Orleans cuisine right on the beach. Whether you come for the views or the food, you'll quickly discover that neither disappoint.
The beachside cafe is a brand new addition to the dining scene in Crescent City. It only had its grand opening last month, so you'll definitely want to give them a try soon if you're a fan of iconic New Orleans dishes.
Formerly known as "The Devil's Kitchen", Schmidt's House of Jambalaya is owned and operated by a couple, Mike and Jen. They've been serving quality food for years, primarily at music festivals, and this cafe is a chance for even more people to experience their incredible food.
In fact, Mike is most well-known for his winning jambalaya. It was even voted the best in Berks County, Pennsylvania! Order yourself a bowl of this classic Cajun dish and enjoy its peppery blend loaded with Andouille sausage, shrimp, ham, and chicken—all served on a bed of rice.
Jambalaya may be the star at Schmidt's, but other popular dishes include the eatery's shrimp skewers, French dip, and selection of po' boy sandwiches. The traditional New Orleans po' boy is served on French bread and guests can choose between blackened snapper, fried shrimp, or roast beef for their filling.
The Super Muffaletta is a recent addition to the menu and also worth checking out. This delicious sandwich is composed of salami, pepperoni, ham, provolone, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and olive tapenade.
Don't forget dessert! No New Orleans-style meal is complete without a beignet or two (or three.) This French-style pastry is covered in powdered sugar and marks the perfect end to an authentic NOLA dining experience. The next time you're craving something good in Crescent City, head out towards the beach and try Schmidt's House of Jambalaya.
