As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you think you need to travel to Lake Tahoe to get in the holiday spirit, think again! This adorable inn in Ferndale is the most festive place to sleep during the holidays. The Victorian Inn looks like it’s straight out of a Hallmark movie.
Ferndale is a beautiful town with well preserved Victorian mansions.
Many of them are located in the area referred to as Victorian Village.
Built in 1890 of local redwood, this historic hotel now has modern amenities so you can marvel at the history without missing out on any comforts.
The suites are styled with Victorian-inspired furniture and wallpaper but with five-star hotel comforts such as rain forest showers and fluffy towels. Many of the rooms have fireplaces, too!
The thriving town of Ferndale has numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants to enjoy during your stay.
Walk around the town to see the beautiful architecture, or drive a few minutes to Centerville Beach County Park to take a walk along the sandy beach.
During the holiday season, the beautiful Victorian mansions are decked out in Christmas lights. See the lighting of “America’s Tallest Christmas Tree ”.
Set away from the highway, as you’re driving in it feels like you’re discovering a hidden town. You’ll drive past farmland and marshland to reach Ferndale. Many dairy farms surround Ferndale, so if you choose to dine out you might be able to taste the local products.
The VI Restaurant inside the hotel offers California comfort food in a fine dining setting. From mac n’ cheese to steak, this restaurant will have something for every taste. After dinner at VI Restaurant, walk down the street to have a nightcap at Palace cocktail bar.
Make Ferndale your homebase to explore the redwoods. Ferndale is about a 30 minute drive away from the north side of the Avenue of the Giants. This stretch of road that parallels the highway takes drivers through storybook-like scenery.
The towering ancient redwoods are truly an incredible site to behold. Stop at Immortal Tree and Founders Tree to see the giants up close and take pictures.
