When it comes to amusement parks in our state, Southern California gets all the attention. However, NorCal is home to an impressive array of amusement parks for both kids and adults of all ages. In particular, this mini amusement park is geared specifically towards young children, but parents can’t help but have a blast as well as they watch their little ones having the time of their lives. Childhood doesn’t last forever so taking advantage of these places is definitely a must! Check out this hidden gem of a park and start planning a little family day trip.
Hiding out in Concord is the underrated gem of an amusement park known as Pixieland. Generations of kids have been enjoying this park since it opened over half a century ago, and it's a must-visit for any family.
The original park was first opened in 1955 by a toy store owner named Norman Rosenburg. Rosenburg wanted to build a park where little kids could have big fun, and his vision of the park survives to this day.
Admission and parking are completely free, but all rides require tickets. This makes it the perfect place to come and hang out with the family for however long or short you want.
The park is an absolute wonderland for little kids. Surrounded by bright colors, lovable characters, and a plethora of rides, it's easy to see why Pixieland has pleased so many generations of children over the years. This is good old-fashioned fun at its finest.
Hop aboard the Pixieland Express which takes you on a quarter-mile ride around the park, see what it feels like to fly on the Red Baron Airplanes ride, or jump into a tea cup as they spin and spin. The rides may not be overly fancy, but they definitely get the job done.
Other notable rides include their antique carousel, frog hopper, and the dragon roller coaster. You won't find any intense loop-de-loop rides here, but each ride is an absolute blast and will have your kids screaming with delight.
Modern amusement parks are getting more and more complicated (and crowded), but thankfully there are places like Pixieland to turn to. This amusement park hasn't changed a bit over the years, and that's just the way we like it. Take part in this treasured NorCal tradition soon and check them out.
