Every year from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve, the city of San Francisco transforms with Illuminate SF Festival of Light. This unique festival features the city's ever-expanding light scene, and it's downright magical.
The festival is comprised of 37 different light sculptures in 17 different neighborhoods. Although pictures of these displays are great, nothing compares to seeing them in person. You'll definitely want to plan a night to see them all for yourself.
If you're short on time, simply scope out the ones that look most appealing to you. "Night Bloom" should definitely be near the top of your list. Located in the Conservatory of Flowers and complete with a dazzling sound exhibition, this light installation will make you feel like you've stepped into some strange world.
Another must-see installation is "Glow" at The Exploratorium. Keep in mind that these displays are meant to mesmerize you, and "Glow" does just that. It isn't just a light display. It's a participatory experience.
