Unfortunately, their original location burned down in the devastating Camp Fire in 2018. However, they’ve since opened a new location so they can keep making unique candies for the community. Joy Lyn's Candies is a small, locally-owned confectionary located in Paradise, California. The candy shop has gone through a lot since it first opened its doors over 50 years ago, but they've proven that they're dedicated to sticking around for years to come!
The business was founded by a professional candy maker by the name of Don Memmer in 1969. For decades, Joy Lyn's served the community with delicious homemade candies. Then, a new chapter was opened in 2000 when Bill and Pam Hartley became the new owners of the business.
The candy shop's popularity grew and grew as the Hartley's dreamed up new types of candies to offer. The owners then sold the business to their son and his wife in October 2018. However, tragedy struck just a month later when the devastating Camp Fire destroyed most of the town, including Joy Lyn's.
The original Joy Lyn's burned to the ground during the fire and everything was lost. The end of Joy Lyn's seemed inevitable, but the owners Glenn and Jody never gave up. Joy Lyn's Candies opened in a new building in Paradise in October 2020, and things are really looking up!
Rebuilt from nothing, Joy Lyn's has overcome a lot. We couldn't be happier that they are open once again and selling their iconic candies. The place may look a little different, but it's the same great candies that have pleased for decades.
Among some of their most popular treats are caramels, chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, toffee, and dark chocolate Oreos. However, the beer brittle is absolutely a must-try. Made with Sierra Nevada beer, it's by far one of the store's best sellers.
