Indian Rock Park is a 1.18-acre park in northeast Berkeley. It's most well-known for its central feature—a humongous rock outcropping along Indian Rock Avenue—and it's definitely a sight to see.
Climbing the main outcropping known as Indian Rock is one the most popular activity at the park. From the top, visitors can enjoy inspiring views that stretch all the way across places like downtown Oakland, San Francisco Bay, and Marin County.
This incredible outcropping of rock formations is just one of many in the vicinity. Composed of volcanic rock, you can even spot pits carved into the rock from acorn-grinding by indigenous peoples suchc as the Ohlones.
The park's facilities include a picnic area with BBQ and fireplace, grassy play areas, and plenty of places to scramble on the rocks! The park is an especially popular destination for rock climbing, particularly bouldering. Definitely use plenty of caution if you plan to exercise your climbing skills.
