If you’re familiar with the television show The Simpsons, you know doubt remember how Homer drools when he says, “Chocolate!” It completely takes over his mind and he turns into a dreamlike state.
Well, if you love chocolate, that’s exactly the experience you’ll enjoy at the world-famous Ghirardelli Square. This historic chocolate village is actually a world-famous dessert emporium and you have to see it to believe it.
Located along San Francisco’s famous northern waterfront, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company is named after its founder, Domingo Ghirardelli.
His enterprise started out in several different locations in the city, each time expanding until 1893 when it finally moved to the Pioneer Woolen Building. It wasn’t long before there were several entities here, together now forming today’s Historic Ghirardelli Square.
Historic Ghirardelli Square encompasses four entities.
Pies, brownies, and cakes are just the beginning of all the chocolate goodness. You can also opt for a self-guided tour of the facility to learn more about the evolution of chocolate making in San Francisco, while also enjoying the historic artifacts dotted throughout.
The entire family will love mixing and matching their favorite chocolate favorites for a great taste experience. Once you get home, use some to make a hot chocolate beverage sure to delight you no matter the weather.
Homer Simpson may not have been here, but he definitely had the right chocolate dreams! Come on over to Ghirardelli Square and create your own in-person chocolate experience to last a lifetime.
