Sometimes you have to venture off the beaten road in order to find some of Northern California’s best food. Oregon House is a small unincorporated community in Yuba County. The rural town is nestled in the foothills and feels extremely remote. Hiding in the town on the side of a country road is a hidden culinary gem called Cafe Collage. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know the area, but it’s a beloved restaurant among the locals. It may be located in the middle of nowhere but you’ll be glad you made the journey. The food is out of this world and the restaurant is sure to become of your favorite hidden spots in the state.
Located along the side of a long and remote road is Cafe Collage. This place has been a favorite among locals since it first opened in 1998. You'll be glad you made the long trek out to this fantastic little eatery because the food is simply to die for.
The restaurant is quite small. Reservations are a must if you plan on coming on a weekend night. The cozy atmosphere welcomes you as soon as you walk in.
The cafe specializes in "a melting pot of flavors", including cuisine from Mediterranean and Asian countries. The pizzas are a popular option for diners. On top of various classic flavors, the cafe offers nightly specials such as the Prosciutto-Pesto Pizza pictured below.
The menu is very inspired by Greek food and ingredients. You'll definitely want to order one of their fresh appetizers such as the Collage Mirage which comes with hummus, eggplant dip, Greek yogurt, dolmas, olives, feta, and Isfahan salad.
The love and care that goes into the food is evident as soon as you taste it. All of the dishes are the product of Chef and Owner Salim who traveled all over the world to develop a menu of unique recipes.
The cafe even produces their very own award-winning olive oil. It's evident that Chef Salim knows his stuff, along with the rest of the restaurant staff. Cafe Collage was made for foodies by foodies!
Don't forget to save room for dessert. Just like the rest of the menu, the dessert menu is a unique mix of various cultures including French and Greek. Try the "baklava with pomegranate whipped cream" or the "almond- coffee Callebaut dark chocolate mousse". You won't be disappointed.
You'll find this remote cafe at 13501 Rices Crossing Road, Oregon House, CA 95962. Their hours vary depending on the season. Currently they are in winter hours which are Friday and Saturday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm and Sunday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
