Rated as a moderate hike, this 2.4-mile loop trail leads hikers on an easygoing journey through a beautiful wooded area. The glorious beauty of Nevada County is all around you. However, the natural setting isn't the only thing you'll love about this trail.
The Hardrock Trail takes you right past some of the historic park's most fascinating relics. In fact, remnants of the old Pennsylvania Mine are among one of the first things you'll see as you embark on the trail.
Comprised of easy-to-follow pathways, this hiking trail makes for an especially relaxing stroll through Gold Rush history. Abandoned structures and items can be found all around you! Keep an eye out for a nearby spur trail that branches off from a cement structure and leads you to an abandoned mule corral.
Keep heading south on the trail and you'll spot loads of other reminders of this bygone era, like the actual foundation of the Orleans Mine stamp mill. It's impressive to think these dilapidated structures can still be seen to this day, even though they've obviously seen better days.
