It’s hard to be anything but happy when you live in a beautiful place like Northern California. According to a recent study, our region of the Golden State is even home to some of the happiest cities in America! WalletHub recently released a list of 2021’s Happiest Cities in America using a variety of indicators. Not only did a California city grab the number one spot, but two other cities made it into the top ten. That says a lot about what living in Northern California must be like, so read on to see the results.
WalletHub recently released their list of 2021's Happiest Cities in America and it showed that Northern California is definitely a great place to live. After all, the city of Fremont took the very top spot!
The study from WalletHub aimed to illustrate that location can a play a role in a person's overall level of happiness. Drawing upon all sorts of psychological research, the study looked at more than 180 of the largest U.S. cities to determine which was the happiest.
Fremont, California was ranked the #1 happiest city in the nation with a total score of 73.66. The score was calculated based on the city's ranking in three key dimensions: Emotional and Physical Well-Being, Income and Employment, and Community and Environment.
These three categories were analyzed using 31 relevant metrics. For example, the category for Emotional and Physical Well-Being used data including the depression rate, life-satisfaction index, physical health index, and sports-participation index.
Fremont was ranked #1 in the category of Emotional and Physical Well-Being, #5 in Community & Environment, and #46 in Income and Employment. Fremont may have some work to do in the latter category, which was calculated using metrics like income-growth rate, poverty rate, job security, and job satisfaction.
Fremont wasn't the only NorCal city to make an appearance. San Jose came in fifth and Santa Rose ranked tenth. If you look even further down the list, you'll see that San Francisco was ranked 13th. It seems like the Bay Area is a pretty happy place to be!
