In trying times like these, it’s important more than ever to look for ways to help each other out. This local distillery in Etna has found a fantastic way to do just that. As you’re probably aware, the current coronavirus epidemic has caused all sorts of shortages across the country, from toilet paper to flour. One seriously essential item that’s experiencing a shortage is hand sanitizer, so Denny Bar Company has taken it upon themselves to start producing it.
In the midst of many businesses shutting down due to the state's Safer At Home order, one Northern California business has managed to not only stay open but create a positive impact where it's seriously needed by producing mass amount of hand sanitizer.
Instead of whiskey, gin, and vodka, Denny Bar Co. in Etna is now creating hand sanitizer. Since they started their first batch about a week ago, the distillery was able to fill 400 2-ounce bottles and give them to those in the community who need it most for free.
The distillery is using a formula that's directly recommended by the World Health Organization, comprised of ethanol, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, and lavender oil for scent. Since distilleries are already readily equipped to produce sanitizer, the decision was a no-brainer for this local business, especially when they saw it was widely needed.
The current nationwide hand sanitizer shortage has effected hospitals, medical professionals, shipping carriers, and first responders the hardest, so that's where Denny Bar Co. is trying to focus their resources. However, locals can sign up to try to get their hands on the next batch of sanitizer the distillery produces.
Currently, they expect to have bulk hand sanitizer available on the first of April. You can sign up to be put on the waiting list on their website here, where you'll select whether you're interested in a 5-gallon container, 1-gallon container, 4-ounce bottle, or 2-ounce bottle.
Additionally, Denny Bar Co. is still open for curbside pickup. They are currently offering food and alcohol to-go Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Give them a call to place your order and support this awesome local business during these uncertain times.
We may be living in tough times right now, but it's businesses like Denny Bar Co. that are showing that the Northern California community never quits. We're all in this together and we'll come out stronger in the end!
