Fishetarian is owned by Shane and Dana Lucas. The couple opened the restaurant in 2012.
Shane is from a long line of California fishermen and catches much of the seafood they sell. He also spent 20 years working in seafood wholesale, so he knows where to find the freshest catches.
Next to the restaurant is Lucas Wharf, opened by Lucas’ parents more than 30 years ago. It’s not uncommon to see seals, sea lions, and other marine mammals swimming in this area.
If you walk away from your meal at Fishetarian wanting to create your own seafood dishes at home, they have a store where you can buy cooking gadgets, sauces, merch, and more.
They also have food prepped to-go, like clam chowder and salmon cream cheese. The store has many other grab-and-go packaged food items you may not find elsewhere, like local saltwater taffy.
The Lucas’ have created an inviting and friendly space they refer to as “a bummer-free zone”.
