Drive-in theaters are great and all, but have you experienced a floating theater? A unique event is making its way to Northern California next season and it looks like it offers just that. At this Floating Cinema, you’ll enjoy a movie with family and friends from the comfort of a boat on the water, not a car. Currently, there’s a date picked out for San Francisco, and we’re counting down the days until we can experience it.
For one week only, Beyond Cinema is bringing its Floating Cinema experience to Northern California. This unique event will take place in San Francisco from September 2-6, 2020, and you definitely don't want to miss it.
The Floating Cinema is a one-of-a-kind movie-watching experience. Made up of 12 to 24 mini boats that can hold up to eight people each, guests will enjoy the movie while bobbing atop the water.
Tickets will require you to purchase an entire boat if you wish to attend the Floating Cinema. This way, groups can be seated with friends and family only. This also allows for safe social distancing between groups.
The movie schedule hasn't been established just yet, but they are set to be a mix of classic favorites and new releases. The movies will be officially announced once tickets go on sale.
Best of all, free popcorn will be provided to everybody in attendance. Other types of snacks and drinks can be purchased from concessions before you set sail.
Currently, it looks like only 16 U.S. cities have dates scheduled for the Floating Cinema, including Los Angeles and San Diego in Southern California. San Francisco is the only Northern California city with a scheduled event, so definitely plan to grab tickets as soon as possible. You can pre-register now to be alerted when tickets go on sale.
Who says you can't have fun while safely social distancing? This unique event goes to show that you totally can. Mark your calendars now for the Floating Cinema and don't miss out on it this fall.
