Northern California has plenty of old railroad trails that have been converted into walking paths and trails, but there is nothing else anywhere in the world like the abandoned train tunnels on Donner Summit near Truckee. This old route through the mountains is no longer used, and hikers can walk through the tunnels and snow sheds to take in the unique sights.
Have you ever walked through the Donner Summit tunnels? It’s a really great experience and we would love to know what you think about this interesting slice of history.
