Social media is full of video tutorials showing how you can make homemade pasta, but it’s not as easy as it looks. The chefs at The Italian Homemade Company have it down to a science. You can expect delicious pasta every time you visit any of their locations. Read about why locals call this some of the best pasta in Northern California:
The Italian Homemade Company serves a wide variety of pasta in a casual setting. Customers are served freshly made pasta, gnocchi, and other Italian favorites on paper plates.
The menu is set up like a choose-your-own-pasta-adventure.
Choose from fettuccine, tagliatelle, pappardelle, gnocchi, and raviolo, plus a choice of marinara, bolognese, or pesto sauce. They have egg-free and gluten free options, too. Opened in 2014, The Italian Homemade Company has rapidly expanded due to its popularity and rave reviews.
Both locals and tourists love the food and the casual concept of this eatery. Some locations serve dry goods, too.
This California-based chain now has five locations– three in San Francisco, one in Berkeley in the East Bay, and one in Long Beach in Southern California. The inside is clean and casual but does not have a ton of seating, which is fine because it seems many people opt for their food to-go.
Nothing like enjoying pre-prepared pasta and bolognese in the comfort of your own home.
Be aware that they do run out of certain pastas, so if you’re dead-set on getting a particular pasta, arrive when they open.
If you want to serve their food at your next event or party, you can order from their catering menu. The catering menu has all their best pastas, piadina, and cassone.
On TripAdvisor, reviewers rave about the pasta. They also like the seating at the North Beach location where you can sit at a bar in front of the window and people watch while you eat.
Many reviewers also pointed out that the pasta is perfectly cooked until it’s "al dente"-- that ideal texture that has a bite to it before it’s overcooked.
Being that this restaurant started in the home of start-ups– San Francisco, the owners describe it as a “food start-up created by the new generation of Italians who grew up in ‘nonni’s kitchen’ and grasped all her best recipes.”
The recipes come from the Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions of Italy. Emilia-Romagna is Italy’s foodie region. Some of the best pasta, prosciutto, cheese, and balsamic vinegar come from this region.
