Well, folks, it looks like the secret is out. Northern California was recently recognized for being home to one of the coolest towns in America, according to this recent list put together by Matador Network. Redding was the city that made the list and we truly couldn’t think of a better choice. We’ve known for a long time about all of Redding’s amazing qualities, but we are a pleasantly surprised that this city is finally gaining national recognition! It’s about time the world realized just how great Redding is, even if that means it’s no longer our little secret.
Redding has flown under the radar as a travel destination for a long time, but it seems like the rest of the world is finally catching on. Redding was recently named one of the coolest towns in America and we have to say we agree!
Earlier this month, the folks over at Matador Network put together a list of "The 25 Coolest Towns In America: 2019" and our very own Redding was named at the #3 spot. The list is meant to highlight the smaller, less crowded travel destinations around the country, with a focus on cities with populations of less than 100,000 residents.
It's no mystery to us why Redding was included on a list with great company like Alaska's Sitka, Hawaii's Hanalei, and Wyoming's Laramie. Redding offers a lot more than historic charm and a lively community. It's also a gateway to some of NorCal's greatest natural wonders.
Matador Network even went as far to say that Redding "might be the West Coast's best adventure destination that hasn't yet received mainstream recognition." They specifically cited the city's close proximity to places like Lassen Volcanic National Park as one of the town's greatest perks.
Additionally, Redding is a haven for waterfall enthusiasts and it's more than likely you've heard of some of the region's most famous cascades. Places like Burney Falls and McCloud Falls have become some of Northern California's most iconic natural features, with thousands of adventurers visiting them year round.
In fact, Redding boasts some of our state's most beloved landscapes and destinations. Take for example the "Three Shastas", referring to Shasta Dam, Lake Shasta, and Mt. Shasta. This view alone is worth a visit to Northern California's coolest town!
Redding's access to stunning natural features is definitely one of our favorite things about this town. However, it's the community itself that makes it such a memorable destination, so be sure to do some exploring in town to see why it was chosen as one of the coolest destinations in the country.
