This isn’t your typical cat cafe. Most cat cafes are coffee shops first and foremost. Champy’s Catfe in Lincoln is a non-profit cat hangout that happens to have seating and free Wi-Fi. Check out this Northern California cat cafe:
All proceeds from the Catfe go to the FieldHaven Feline Center, a non-profit animal welfare organization. FieldHaven does not receive any government funding and relies completely on public donations.
So grab your to-go thermos of coffee, your laptop, and head over to the Catfe to do some work surrounded by cats. And don’t forget to leave a generous donation.
Visit with adoptable kittens and cats while enjoying a hot beverage. Sometimes Champy’s Catfe serves coffee and hot cocoa, but most of the time they do not since it’s run on donations.
They encourage you to bring your own drink and snack and spend time with the kitties. Who knows– maybe you’ll bond with one enough that you’ll want to adopt it!
The cats at the Catfe are so loved and adorable. And their names are just as cute! Pecan, Licorice, and Twizzler are just three of the adoptable cats.
If you see a cat on the website that you want to adopt, be sure to call first since the shelter and the Catfe are in different locations. Not all of the adoptable cats are at the Catfe.
If you’re not in the position to adopt a cat, but you’d like a feline companion, ask if they need any foster cat parents or volunteers.
There is a volunteer application online if you’re interested. You can also support the center by donating and attending charity events they occasionally hold.
Champy’s Catfe is located inside the FieldHaven Marketplace in old town Lincoln.
FieldHaven Marketplace is a massive thrift store with the cat cafe inside. The cafe was named for FieldHaven’s "ambassador cat", Champy, who is inside the market.
You can enjoy several activities in one building. Search through the thrift store for antiques, upcycled pieces, new and gently used merchandise, plus clothing and jewelry.
And if you have items to donate, bring those in any day.
