An actual bigfoot festival takes place every year here in Northern California and it’s a unique celebration that you don’t want to miss. Willow Creek is a quaint and woodsy town located in Humboldt County. It also happens to be considered the “Bigfoot Capital of the World” so it makes sense that it’s the location of the largest and best bigfoot-centric festival in the world. The festival takes place in a month so you better start making plans right away. This is bound to be an unforgettable experience, that’s for sure!
There's no better place in the world to hold a Bigfoot-themed festival than the Bigfoot Capital of the World. Willow Creek is a town that's full of quirks and its love of the big furry creature known as Bigfoot may be what it's most notable for.
The famous Bigfoot Days Parade and Festival takes place every year during Labor Day weekend. This year the festival will take place on September 1, 2018 so mark your calendars! The festival will start with a bang as the Bigfoot Parade commences down Willow Creek's main street at 10:00 am.
The parade is a wacky affair comprised of some of the weirdest parade floats you'll ever see. It's actually the perfect representation of this strange and quirky town. Even if you don't believe in Bigfoot, you won't be able to NOT have fun.
Following the parade will be a day full of food, fun, and eccentric festivities at Veterans Park. The event will include food and craft booths, a deep pit BBQ, petting zoo, and ice cream social. There will also be a handful of events that you'll definitely want to partake in, including a logging contest and a lawn mower race.
Bigfoot Days is a totally non-profit event. All of the money raised during the festival goes into making the festival bigger and better the following year. It's a beloved community tradition that truly embodies the tight-knit character of this little town.
The festival may take place for just one day but you could easily make an entire weekend out of Bigfoot-themed activities in Willow Creek. After all, this town is deeply rooted in Bigfoot lore and they aren't afraid to show their love for the creature.
A stop by the Willow Creek - China Flat Museum is a must. The museum is home to a humongous and world-famous Bigfoot collection. It also contains a plethora of artifacts from the region's old mining and logging days.
Bigfoot Days may just be one of the kookiest festivals in Northern California, but it's a blast and a half and you don't want to miss it. Just remember to keep an eye out for the big guy himself!
