Northern California is never lacking for good food. Whatever you’re looking for you can find here. Sometimes it’s not about the food, it’s about location, location, location. So, how about enjoying that next meal beside the Pacific Ocean or even a rushing river or glassy lake? Crashing waves and salty air just might be what the doctor ordered. Take a peek at a few amazing beachfront restaurants that just might do the trick!
1. Cafe Waterfront --102 F Street, Eureka
Looking for some amazing beer battered halibut or spicy shrimp bisque? Um, why yes we are! Grab your S.O. and head here!
2. The Point Restaurant --120 Marina Drive, Rio Vista
After a long day at work, point your car in in the direction of this point. Sitting on the Sacramento River, this could just be what your soul needs.
3. Beachside Coffee Bar & Kitchen -- 4300 Judah St, San Francisco
Chicken bacon waffle? Who wouldn't? Comfort food at it's best. San Francisco does beachfront cafes right. This city makes a point to draw us with fine food on the water. Kudos SFO!
4. Sam's Chowder House -- 420 N. Cabrillo Hwy, Half Moon Bay
Heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese is a lovely start to any meal on the water, don't you think? Half Moon Bay is one of those spots that's way underrated. Which is a great thing. It's not as busy as a lot of other SFO spots and a cool breeze is always a sweet thing in the summer.
5. Nick's Cove -- 23240 Hwy 1 Point Reyes
In this charming little community you won't find fresher seafood anywhere. We recommend getting a plate of oysters and enjoying them with an unbeatable seaside view.
6. Bistro at The Cliff House --1090 Point Lobos Ave., San Francissco
This establishment is a classic dining experience in these parts. Known for their soft fluffy omelettes and famous popovers, the spectacular view makes this place magical.
7. Spud Point Crab Company -- 1910 Westshore Rd., Bodega Bay
Voted best clam chowder in Bodega Bay. A crab shack just might be the best place to find what makes your tummy happy. Folks come from all over for their crab sandwiches and the line is long for crab cakes. It's open seven days a week, so put a day on that calendar of yours.
8. Little River Inn --7901 N. Hwy 1, Little River
You can stay here in one of their cottages or just stop by for a great meal. Most folks visiting Mendocino find it more affordable a meal and a view that can't compare!
9. Fresh Ketch -- 2435 Venice Dr E
South Lake Tahoe
Sit by the window and watch the boats sail on by. The snow-covered Sierras crate the mood and it's lovely. Oysters your thing? They're apparently pretty rockin' here. Enjoy pan seared coconut shrimp or scallops...Fresh Ketch lives up to its name.
10. Boathouse on the Pier -- South Tahoe
This spot offers up plenty of favorites to tempt you: crab cakes, Filet Mignon, creme brulee, and a dozen other incredible dishes to delight your palate. Those drinks in the photo above are sunset sippers, and they're only available at sunset.
11. The Cookhouse --Bridge Bay Resort
10300 Bridge Bay Rd
Redding
Fish and chips PLUS Shasta Lake = DELICIOUSNESS times a million.
12. Scoma's of Sausalito --- 588 Bridgeway, Sausalito
Some places are a must-eat and must-see...this is one of them. The food is always rated as amazing and with crab like that we can't argue. Ask for a window seat and make sure to appreciate not only the gorgeous view but how great the service here is. It can make all the difference.
