Originally constructed during the late 1800s and early 1900s, this now abandoned resort was once home to the extravagant estates of the Bay Area's most influential families. Now known as the Tallac Historic Site, the area is free and open to the public to wander about at their leisure.

The Tallac Historic Site is a great place to spend the day when you're in South Lake Tahoe, thanks to the hard work of the Tahoe Heritage Foundation.
