Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. She's always had a passion for writing and has participated in novel writing challenges such as NaNoWriMo multiple times. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
The recent snow and extreme cold temperatures in North Dakota have practically shut down the state. Canceled school, closed businesses, and even no mail delivery. It’s been colder than the North Pole in the last week, and we’re certainly all feeling it across the plains! Despite this crazy polar vortex weather, we can be glad it’s not as bad as it was 53 years ago. It was 1966 that ND saw its worst blizzard in history – and it’ll be one that’s tough to beat for probably years down the road.
Were you there for the Blizzard of 1966? Did any of your family members experience it? They would certainly have a tale to tell that we can be glad we aren’t experiencing today.
