This fun restaurant has become a local staple. With specific quirks you won’t find at any other restaurant, legendary grinders, and an unusual location, it really is one of a kind. This taco shack in North Dakota has been ranked the best of the state in multiple areas – best grinders and best late-night food, specifically – from multiple national publications. Go see what all the buzz is about by visiting this ramshackle place:
Hiding in an unassuming neighborhood is a taco shack that Grand Forks locals love. The Red Pepper may not look like much from the outside, but its endearing charm has kept it a hot spot for college kids and families alike for years.
The Red Pepper may only have "tacos" on their sign outside, but they have quite a few other options on their menu. And despite being in Grand Forks, their policy is to never have any forks on hand, only spoons - and they mean it.
That honor goes to their insanely delicious grinders. The Everything Grinder is absolutely stacked with meat, cheese, lettuce, and you can get their famous white sauce on it to complete the meal. Don't expect this to be a light snack, you'll want to make sure you have one on an empty stomach as they are huge.
Along with the grinders and tacos, many people also enjoy getting their fresh tostadas, either plain with melted cheese and sauce or with taco toppings on top.
Why not try a Coney Dog, too? The Red Pepper has those as well. They are good at making everything on the menu, so good that people who move away and miss their food order it from far and wide to be delivered via FedEx. They just love it that much!
Though they have grown big enough to have a few other locations in North Dakota, their original shack in Grand Forks is the one you'll want to visit to get the authentic Red Pepper experience.
