North Dakota is one of the top two producers of sunflowers in all of the US. We’re reaching the peak time of the year for sunflowers to be in full bloom, and you can see it yourself. This sunflower “superbloom,” as some people have called it, is a gorgeous sight and one you can see by simply driving down ND’s highways, byways, and country roads.

North Dakota is currently in what some have referred to as a sunflower "superbloom." August is when the sunflowers reach full bloom and blanket the state in beautiful fields of yellow.

Nearly half a million acres of sunflowers were planted in North Dakota this year. People have traveled from all over just to come and see the gorgeous fields of bright gold.

If you're going to go out and see the sunflower fields, which are also a prime spot for photographers and photo shoots, make sure you enjoy the flowers from the road and not in the fields. These sunflowers are a farmer's livelihood and walking into the fields can result in trampling or knocking down the flowers.
