North Dakota has only one small town creamery left, but its amazing ice cream is distributed to small town grocery stores and restaurants all across the state and beyond. The ice cream made at this place is amazingly good, so good that it’s been named the best ice cream in North Dakota by USA Today. People go crazy for it, and for good reason. You’ll definitely want to find some to try as soon as possible if you haven’t had any yet, and here’s why:
Bottineau, North Dakota is a town of 2,211 people, but thousands more than that are reached every year through ice cream.
Bottineau is home to Pride Dairies, North Dakota's last small town creamery. It has been around for nearly 90 years. They produce absolutely amazing ice cream, butter, and cheese, but it's the ice cream that has made them so popular.
Stop inside their little restaurant, Dairy Dipper II, to grab a cone and try it for yourself. They also serve lunch and have a great selection of their products here.
Pride Dairy has tons of different flavors of their scrumptious ice cream. Whether you get the classic vanilla or something yummy like S'mores, you'll find you love them all. They distribute their ice cream throughout grocery stores in North Dakota, so you might even be able to find some near you if you can't make the drive all the way up north to Bottineau.
You'll also definitely want to try their amazing butters. These aren't just normal butters, they come in unique yet absolutely delicious flavors like Juneberry. Yum!
Pride Dairy even makes a special ice cream for Mt. Rushmore that has become one of the most popular flavors at the monument. The "Vintage Vanilla" flavor is based off of a recipe Thomas Jefferson wrote himself that Pride Dairy has recreated and people love. How cool is that?
Pride Dairy is certainly one of a kind, and remains one of the most beloved ice cream makers in North Dakota. To visit them, stop by their store location at 517 Thompson Street, Bottineau, ND 58318. You can also find their ice cream in many grocery stores and restaurants all across the state.
