North Dakota is full of small towns, all of them unique in their own ways occupied by people who are happy to call them home. Here are 10 examples of such towns that are also very photogenic. These picturesque towns are simply lovely!
Hatton is a small town in eastern North Dakota with a population of about 770. Shown is the Eielson Museum which commemorates Carl Ben Eielson, a pilot and arctic explorer born in Hatton. He was the first to ever fly over both polar regions - the North Pole and South Pole - in the same year, back in 1928.
Other than having an interesting name, Gackle is also an interesting town. It was named after a local farmer, George Gackle, in 1904 when it was founded.

This isn't a movie set for a western flick, but it sure looks like it! Carson is located in the south west part of the state and holds 287 residents. It was originally built when the Great Northern Railway reached this point while on its way across the state.

The pleasant name fits this delightful town perfectly. Hope was founded back in 1881 and some of the old buildings from back then still stand today. One is Baldwin's Arcade, which has been standing since the city was founded. Wow!
The name of this lovely town was actually inspired by one of the citizens' Elgin-brand pocket watch.

Beautiful Bottineau was originally located about 1.5 miles north of where it currently resides. When the railroad came through in 1887, they moved the town down to where the tracks were being installed. It is home to the state's oldest county fair, the Bottineau County Fair.
Edgeley was founded in 1886 and is home to some of North Dakota's largest wind farms. The current population estimate is about 559 residents.
Wilton is part of the Bismarck-Mandan area. It was mostly built up by Ukrainian immigrants back in the early 1900s, adding to some of North Dakota's rich cultural heritage.

Park River has many cute sights like the local theater in this photo. Like most North Dakota small towns, it has a very agricultural-centric history. The most common crops around Park River are sugar beets and potatoes.
