Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Are you a lover of all things wild and free? Same. Here at Only In Your State, we’re only a little obsessed with all the most amazing places to go hiking in North Dakota, and it’s almost as if we can’t discover one trail without discovering ten more worth doing, too. Let’s take a look at a short-and-sweet hiking trail in ND that’s sure to wow you. It’s a gorgeous little glimpse at just how beautiful our hidden gem of a state is, and you’ll see more natural wonders along the way than there are miles in the hike. Come do the Little Mo Nature Trail and see why we strongly suspect it’s one of the all-time best hikes in North Dakota:
Hidden in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is the Little Mo Nature Trail, and it makes for an excellent afternoon (or early morning) activity.
It's a fairly popular trail (for North Dakota standards, anyway), so if you're one of those folks who prefers fewer people on the trail, we suggest a visit in the early morning during the week.
You will not regret it for even one moment, except for maybe when it comes time to leave (noooooo!).
Most of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is made up of canyons, badlands, and never-ending blue skies. The skies on the Little Mo trail are also endlessly blue, but that's pretty much where the similarities end.

Sure, there are still canyons and awe-inspiring overlooks along the way, just like you'd expect from any trail within Theodore Roosevelt NP.
But this region of the park is lush and green instead of rocky and "bald," and during the warmer months, when everything is at its peak, it is especially beautiful.
You'll encounter wildflowers (should you come in the spring and early summer), wildlife (including absolutely breathtaking wild bison), and so much more. It truly is a legitimate adventure, jam-packed into just over one mile of meandering.
It's flat and paved for the entirety of the first half; beyond that point, it's no longer paved - but it's well-kept, mostly flat, and quite easy, even for youngsters and beginner hikers.
It's difficult to overstate the majesty of this short-and-sweet hike in North Dakota.
Come out and see why the amazing Little Mo Nature Trail is one of the downright best hikes in North Dakota. We can’t even list all the reasons here – that list would be longer than the trail is! If you find you can’t get enough of all the natural wonders at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, you’re not alone – it’s home to some of the most intriguing natural wonders in ND.
