She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. There are tons of campgrounds across North Dakota, but very few can boast the same number of campsites as this one. At max capacity, this campground would surpass the population of quite a few small towns in this state! Not only that, but how many other campgrounds can say they have a church and a schoolhouse? Not many – and that’s what makes this massive place special, among many other reasons. Check it out and head over there while the weathers still great:
The massive campground in North Dakota's beautiful Icelandic State Park has over 130 campsites and cabins. From the sky, it almost looks like a small town until you notice most of the house-looking things are RVs.
It is located right on the shore of the scenic Lake Renwick near Cavalier, North Dakota. This spot is gorgeous year round, from having fun out on the boat in the summer to the vibrant colors of fall to great ice fishing in the winter.
With over a hundred campsites, you may think they'd be all cramped together without much privacy but that couldn't be further from the truth. Each campsite feels like your own cozy little slice of nature among the trees.
Along with RV hookups and places to pitch a tent, the Icelandic State Park campground has multiple cabins. These cabins have electricity, heat, and air conditioning along with a grill outdoors for that perfect camping experience.
Along with the many, many campsites, the park is loaded with things to do. A stroll or a picnic among the trees can be especially breathtaking during the fall.
The Icelandic State Park even has some truly spectacular and fascinating historic sites that nearly cement its township status. This includes places like the Gunlogson Homestead and the Hallson Church, shown below:
There is even a historic schoolhouse, the Cranley School, right in the park. With such a huge campground and so many other amenities, you don't want to pass up a visit to this place.
The Icelandic State Park is located 5 miles west of Cavalier, North Dakota on Highway 5. Full service campsites and cabins are available to reserve through the end of September. For more information on the park and how to reserve a campsite, click here.
