She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
There’s nothing quite like walking down a lantern-lit trail on a fall evening. If you’ve never experienced this serene and beautiful type of hike before, you’re in luck — one of North Dakota’s state parks is hosting a Fall Luminary Walk through the colorful trees of the forest in fall. It’s coming up soon, so keep reading to find out more:
Turtle River State Park is covered in mostly wooded areas, making it a fantastic fall foliage destination in North Dakota. The trees become beautiful shades of gold, red, and everything in between this time of year.
With such gorgeous scenery surrounding the river itself, the park offers many trails to explore this picture-perfect area —including a special event that's coming up soon.
As the sun starts to set on Saturday, October 19th, 2019, the park staff will be lighting gorgeous luminaries along the trails so you can take a walk by the lantern-light on a lovely fall day.
The luminaries will light the way starting from the Woodland Lodge and continuing through the park. You can walk the trail at your own pace and take in the nature surrounding you.
Along with the unique hiking experience, there will be a roaring fire and refreshments going on at the Woodland Lodge where you started so you can warm up and enjoy a snack.
There are no tickets necessary and the event is free, though you will need the usual park vehicle day pass. It begins at 7 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. — plenty of time to take in the sights and colors.
The event was originally scheduled for October 12th, 2019, however, due to this week's snowstorm, it was moved to the 19th — and even if there is still snow on the ground during the event, you might find it equally as beautiful if not more.
