Nestled within Theodore Roosevelt National Park is a trail that is, quite possibly, the best trail with the most amazing views in all of North Dakota. Upon arriving at the park, you’ll pay a small entry fee per car, and once you’re in you’ll make your way to the Caprock Coulee Loop trailhead. This incredible hiking trail in North Dakota is worth every step you’ll take, as it seems like each is more scenic than the last.
Caprock Coulee Loop is a 4.4-mile loop trail that's rated as moderately difficult.
The trail is, for the most part, quiet and peaceful. It's wonderful for those who appreciate wildflowers, as it's absolutely teeming with them during certain times of year.

The wildflowers are far from the only draw to the area.
The views of various parts of the badlands rock formations combined with the occasional incredible vantage points of the prairie plateau make for one absolutely awe-inspiring hike.

We recommend that one takes the trail in a counter-clockwise direction.
Caprock Coulee Loop will lead you through some of the most incredible views in all of North Dakota. You won't believe the majesty of the badlands or the breathtaking beauty of the wild prairie.

You’ll find the Caprock Coulee Trail easily upon entering the National Park. Follow the signs from the entrance and it should be fairly easy to navigate.
