Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. She's always had a passion for writing and has participated in novel writing challenges such as NaNoWriMo multiple times. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
Note: as of October 2020, Home Plate Cafe is permanently closed.
Who doesn’t love delicious, made-from-scratch baked goods? This small town cafe has that and so much more. If you love German food, especially, you absolutely must visit this place. It may be a bit out of the way but it’s worth the extra miles to enjoy fresh, perfectly made cakes, pies, kuchen, German cuisine, and more.
The Home Plate Cafe is open every day of the week except Mondays, from 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM on Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
If you love German food like the kind that’s served here, you’ll also love this more modern, urban restaurant in ND taking those classic dishes and giving them new twists.
